Since 1941, the Owl Club of Denver has been a pillar of community and civil rights advocacy, confronting negative racial stereotypes of African Americans by presenting young women of high moral character, pride, and academic success. For decades, club members have responded to the adversities in the African American experience by providing resources and safe spaces for this community to thrive. Today, their continued efforts are an example of the positive impact that comes from creating and staying in community.
Owl Club of Denver: Legacies of Excellence was created by History Colorado in close partnership with the Owl Club of Denver and photographs from the Blair-Caldwell Branch of the Denver Public Library.
