Most Airline Counters Move to Temporary Locations

DEN is temporarily relocating 24 airline check-in/bag drop counters as construction continues on the Great Hall Program. Between April 9 and June 30, the counters at the south end of Jeppesen Terminal’s east and west sides will be temporarily moving from Level 6 to Level 5. These airlines will remain on Level 5 in their temporary operation through mid-2027.

DENVER – Jan. 28, 2024 – The Denver International Airport (DEN) Center of Equity and Excellence in Aviation (CEEA) is accepting applications from Feb. 10 – 22 for its 2025 internship program, known as the DENtern Program. The internship program empowers high school and college students to soar into the future by ensuring inclusivity and providing immersive experiential programing that will unlock pathways to thriving careers in aviation and beyond.

“An internship at Denver International Airport is more than just a learning experience—it’s a launchpad for the future,” DEN Chief of Staff Maria G. Meleandez said. “Through this transformative initiative, DEN is investing in the next generation of innovators and leaders, fostering diverse talent and building a brighter, more inclusive workforce for the aviation industry. By cultivating young talent through mentorship, skill-building and real-world opportunities, DEN is strengthening the aviation pipeline to ensure a dynamic and sustainable future for the industry.”

This immersive program is an excellent opportunity for high school and college students to gain professional development, work closely with airport executives and staff for research, earn industry-recognized certifications and get exclusive, behind-the-scenes tours of the airport’s operations.

Through the program, students will get the chance to work in a wide range of departments, including but not limited to:

  • Airfield Operations
  • Center of Equity and Excellence in Aviation (CEEA)
  • Executive Office
  • Planning & Design
  • Data Analysis
  • Legal
  • Human Resources
  • Engineering
  • Concessions
  • Business Technology
  • Customer Service

Eligibility Criteria

College students must be enrolled in an accredited program leading to a certificate, licensure, associate, bachelor’s or higher degree. Recent graduates (within one year of program completion) are also eligible.

High school students must be at least 16 years old. Post-high school graduates within one year of completion are eligible.

Residency Requirement

All interns must reside in Colorado during the internship. A majority of the roles are hybrid with certain roles being fully in-person based on business need.

The DENtern application window is from February 10 –22 with departments conducting rolling interviews as applications are submitted. Student are encouraged to apply early, as the cohort kicks off June 2, 2025.
