Airport Security Transition to New Identity Management System on August 25

DEN Airport Security will be transitioning to a new Identity Management Systems (IDMS) effective Aug. 25, 2025.

The new platform is designed to improve workflow and provide automated processes for badging. Company Authorized Signatories will be required to attend training prior to the transition for familiarity of processing badging applications for new and existing employees. Some of the exciting features of the new system include electronic processing of applications, online initial and renewal training that can be completed remotely and more efficient processing and vetting of visitors being escorted at our Airfield vehicle gates and terminal access points.

Below are important details regarding the transition. If your badge will expire between now and the beginning of September, you are encouraged to renew as soon as possible (up to 60 days prior to your badge expiration date).

Office Closures and Appointments

  • Badging Offices Closed:5 p.m. on August 19 through 6:45 a.m. on August 25 for IDMS transition. There will be no employee processing during this time.
  • August 25–28:Open normal hours by appointment only. Walk-ins accepted if able. Appointments encouraged.
  • September 2-5: Open extended hours 6 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Visitor Management Processing and Vetting Changes – Starting Aug. 25, 2025

  • Vehicle gate escorts and TE-60 escorts require pre-vetting through the new system two business days in advance.
  • Pink visitor badges issued at the AOB will be unavailable from 5 p.m. on August 19 to 8 a.m. on August 25. Please plan accordingly.
  • A Notice Sign will be posted at all Airfield Vehicle Gates this week that will include a QR code linking to the FAQ

  • Additional Live Sessions have been scheduled with Airport Security. During these sessions, attendees can learn more about the new Visitor Management process and to ask any questions.

Other Important Info

  • Initial Online Trainingwill launch in August.
  • Badge Expiring?Renew ASAP. Employees are eligible to renew 60 days early.
    • Employees who are in Renewal Status in the current SAFE for Aviation system must visit the Badging Office and renew their badge prior to August 19. Otherwise, the Authorized Signatory will need to start the Badge Renewal Status process in the new Intellisoft badging system after August 25.
  • Sponsoring a company? Submit by August 15. No sponsorships will be processed from August 17–25.
  • No duplicate email addresses are allowed in the new system. Make sure all employees have a unique email address before the transition.

New Employee Badging Process

Your DEN employee badge is a TSA required identification credential that carries personal responsibility and is used to access your work area at DEN. Below are resources to obtain a badge.

When visiting the Badging Office, individuals must present 2 (two) forms of identification from Form I-9 Acceptable Documents. One document must show your identity, and another document must provide your authorization to work in the United States, none of which can be digital or photocopies.  

Names on the documents must match the name on the fingerprinting and badging application. If names do not match, all legal documents containing name changes are required.

Step 1: Fingerprinting

  • Your company Authorized Signatory must submit a new badge request electronically via the authorized signatory portal.
  • Your Authorized Signatory will review your Acceptable Form I-9 Documents you plan to present to the Airport Security Office at your Fingerprinting Appointment.
  • After your company has created your new badge request, you may schedule an appointment for Fingerprinting.
  • You must bring 2 documents from the Acceptable Form I-9 Documents list, one providing identity and one providing work authorization, none of which can be digital or photocopies.
  • You will not test or receive your Airport ID Badge at your Fingerprinting Appointment.
  • You should plan at least one hour for this appointment.

Step 2: Training and Testing

  • After your background checks are completed, your company Authorized Signatory will notify you, usually within a week, but may be longer.
  • Once notified, you may schedule an appointment for training and testing.
  • You must bring 2 documents from the Acceptable Form I-9 Documents list, one providing identity and one providing work authorization, none of which can be digital or photocopies.

New employees who have authorized access to the Sterile Area may schedule an appointment at the Main Badging Office (i.e., airline gate pass, flying into DEN (day of) for new hire processing, etc.). Airport Security will not initiate, nor provide, temporary access through a security checkpoint for any badging needs.

New employees who have authorized access to the Sterile Area may schedule appointments here (gate pass, flying in, etc.). Airport Security will not provide temporary access through a security checkpoint.  

Badging Offices are open from 6:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Badging Offices may stop taking walk-ins before 3 p.m., depending on walk-in traffic. Training and testing for all employees is available only until 3 p.m. Appointments are encouraged, but not required.

The busiest walk-in wait times tend to be each day around 11 a.m. Due to high levels of customer volume, walk-in service may not be available after 1 p.m. Customers with scheduled appointments are served before walk-in customers.

The Badging Offices will be closed on the following dates/times:

  • August 20 through August 24 – Closed in support of Identity Management System (IDMS) cutover
  • September 1, 2025 – Closed in observance of Labor Day
  • October 13, 2025 – Closed in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day

How do I set up my company so that my team can access badging privileges?

Each air carrier, tenant, vendor or contractor requiring access to the Sterile Area, Secured Area or Controlled Area of DEN must become a “Participant” in the Airport Security Program and must remain in good standing with the program to maintain airport access and badging privileges.
