Winter Storm Advisory

Home

DENVER, CO — April 22, 2013 — Denver International Airport (DIA) is experiencing a winter storm.

Snow began falling at DIA at about 11:22 a.m. The airport is expecting between 3-6 inches of total accumulation through about 4 a.m. tomorrow, with additional flurries expected in the morning.

The airlines are currently in full deicing mode, which means passengers should expect to spend a little longer on the aircraft before departing.

Snow-removal crews are in place and clearing runways, taxiways and landside roads as needed. DIA has more than 250 pieces of snow-removal equipment and more than 500 trained snow-removal personnel. Peña Boulevard is wet and being treated as needed.

Travel Tips for Passengers

  • Please check your flight status before heading out to the airport with your airline or on www.flydenver.com.
  • Drive with caution and allow extra time when heading to the airport.
  • A good rule of thumb is to be inside the airport two hours prior to flight departure time. This should allow for plenty of time to navigate flight check-in, security lines and travel to the gate.
  • DIA recommends passengers download the free FlySmart travel app for the Blackberry, iPhone and Android. FlySmart Airport is the only travel app that features content downloaded directly from www.flydenver.com.
