DENVER – August 27, 2020 – Mexican carrier Volaris has provided flights to more nonstop international destinations than any other carrier at Denver International Airport during the month of August. Volaris was also the first carrier to resume international flights from Denver on June 16 with service to Guadalajara, Mexico (GDL) and has continued to expand service levels, adding flights to Mexico City (MEX) in July followed by flights to Chihuahua (CUU) in August.
“We are pleased Volaris continues to expand their service in Denver,” said DEN CEO Kim Day. “We value the investment by Volaris to offer these flights and provide passengers with options to travel to and from this critical international market.”
Volaris targets visiting friends and relatives which is proving to be one of the segments of travel that is rebounding the fastest during the COVID-19 pandemic. Colorado is home to one of the largest Mexican-American populations in the U.S. which propelled Mexico to consistently rank as Denver’s largest international market in terms of demand. The resiliency of this demand is highlighted by the continued expansion of service by Volaris in Denver this summer.
“Our goal reopening routes to Denver is to further serve our visiting friends and relatives core market,” said Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, Markets Development Director for Volaris. “Now more than ever, our flights provide a clean, punctual and fast means of transportation with low fares that allow more people to safely reconnect with their loved ones.”
In September, Volaris is scheduled to operate four weekly flights between Denver and Mexico City; three weekly flights between Denver and Guadalajara; and one weekly flight between Denver and Chihuahua.
“Through Volaris’ international flights from Denver International Airport to Mexico City, Guadalajara and Chihuahua, people are connecting again with family and friends, for business, studies or just a well-deserved vacation,” said Berenice Rendón Talavera, Consul General of Mexico. “The flights are also very important for people wanting to travel to other countries in the region. Travel safe!”
