Home

Candidates for DEN's new "Train Call" announcers.DENVER – Feb. 12, 2018 – All aboard! Denver International Airport (DEN) today announced the top-10 finalists and opened online public voting for the man and woman who will voice the airport’s iconic concourse and terminal “Train Call” announcements. These are the permanent voices that provide operational messages such as where to board and which concourse passengers have arrived at. In addition, the train runs temporary guest announcements by local celebrities and sports figures welcoming visitors to Denver.

“Train Call” has historically been voiced by prominent members of the Denver broadcasting community, providing operational messages to tens of millions of passengers each year who travel on the train that serves the airport’s concourses and terminal. The current voices since 2007 are former KUSA 9News anchor Adele Arakawa and Denver sports announcer Alan Roach. The voices have become a well-known fixture of the airport over the past 23 years, and the airport periodically refreshes them with new personalities.

The airport previously opened a call for nominations among Denver’s broadcasting community, and received 60 nominations of media professionals in the Denver market. A panel of experts representing the airport, the City of Denver, Visit Denver, the Colorado Tourism Office, governor’s office, original “Train Call” artist Jim Green and current “Train Call” voice Adele Arakawa narrowed the nominees to the following five men and five women (from left to right in attached photo):

  • Vic Lombardi, Altitude TV and sports radio
  • Mike Nelson, KMGH/7
  • Jeremy Hubbard, KDVR/31
  • Gary Shapiro, KUSA/9
  • Alan Roach, Colorado Avalanche and Rapids game announcer
  • Kim Christiansen, KUSA/9
  • Kathy Walsh, KCNC/4
  • Kathy Sabine, KUSA/9
  • Denise Plante, KOSI 101
  • Anne Trujillo, KMGH/7

Beginning today, the public is invited and encouraged to vote for their favorite male and female voices by visiting http://contests.flydenver.com/DENvoice. Voting will be open now through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25. Voting is limited to one vote per person and requires a valid email address to participate. At the end of the voting period, the man and woman with the most votes will be invited to a professional recording session and become the new voices of the airport train!

The winning voices will be announced shortly after voting ends.
