Prost to United’s New Munich Flights

Home

DENVER – Apr. 22, 2022 – Tomorrow, Denver International Airport (DEN) and United Airlines will inaugurate new service to Germany’s famed Bavaria region by way of Munich Airport (MUC). Beginning April 23, United will operate daily flights between the Mile High City and Munich, known for its renowned Oktoberfest celebrations and stunning architecture. Flights to Munich will depart Denver in the late evening with a midafternoon arrival the following day. For those traveling to Denver or beyond with connections, the service will arrive at DEN in the early evening.

“We are excited United is adding Munich as a second German destination to their growing Denver network,” said DEN CEO Phil Washington. “We are thankful for United’s commitment to Denver as we continue to expand our global connections and provide more international travel options for our passengers.”

In addition to serving demand for travel between Denver and Munich, the flight supports United’s growing hub at DEN which offers unparalleled connectivity to points across the western U.S. Service is scheduled to operate daily, year-round onboard Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

“United is proud to be the only U.S. airline to offer transatlantic service from Denver,” said Matt Miller, United’s Vice President of Airport Operations in Denver. “For 85 consecutive years we’ve called this city home, and we look forward to connecting Coloradans to yet another international destination with easy and direct access from Denver.”

United’s new Munich flights complement the airline’s existing service between Denver and Frankfurt (FRA). The launch also marks an exciting milestone for United, as it will be the first time the carrier serves two German destinations nonstop from Denver. United’s transatlantic network from Denver in summer 2022 will be larger than at any time in history and will also include two daily flights to London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR), with the second LHR frequency scheduled to begin May 7.

In addition to United’s partnership, DEN and Munich Airport (MUC) share a long history, dating back before nonstop flights operated between the two airports. A formal sister-airport agreement was signed by former Denver Mayor Wellington Webb in September 1991. As a result, the teams in both Denver and Munich have worked collaboratively over the past three decades to exchange not only expertise in the aviation industry but to build the business case that supports nonstop service.
