Change Will Create a More Cost-Effective Parking Option for Travelers

DENVER – Nov. 12, 2021 – The holidays are approaching, and Denver International Airport (DEN) is making adjustments to meet the needs of our holiday travelers by opening the Pikes Peak shuttle lot 24/7 starting Friday, Nov. 19 and continuing through Jan. 6, 2022. The opening of the lot will provide travelers a cost-effective option at only $8 a day.

“Over the last several months, we have been unable to permanently reopen the Pikes Peak shuttle lot due to a shortage in bus drivers, which has created some challenges during peak hours,” said DEN CEO Phil Washington. “As we prepare for an increase of passenger traffic during the holidays, we have made some adjustments to open the shuttle lots despite still facing a shortage in bus drivers. By doing so, we will have more parking spaces available during the holidays at a more cost-effective price point.”

To open the Pikes Peak shuttle lot, DEN will have to close the East Economy Lot to incoming vehicles starting Monday, Nov. 15 at 12:01 a.m. The closure of the East Economy Lot will allow DEN to move the shuttles from that lot to Pikes Peak lot. If the Pikes Peak lot reaches capacity, the Mt. Elbert shuttle lot will open. The opening of the shuttle lots will provide an additional 12,000 spaces during the holiday season.

Due to ongoing bus driver shortages, bus service from the Pikes Peak lot to the terminal will be reduced so passengers who park in Pikes Peak should allow an extra 45 minutes to get to the terminal. Arriving passengers returning to their vehicle at the Pikes Peak lot will pick up the shuttle from Level 5 on the east side only, island 3 near door 511, the same location where passengers will be dropped off when arriving for their flight.

The Pikes Peak lot is located at 75th Ave. and North Elk St. From inbound Peña Boulevard, exit at 75th Ave. and head East to North Elk St. where you will take a right. This is currently the only entrance into the Pikes Peak. The west entrance is closed due to ongoing construction. Signs are posted to help direct motorists to the lot.

Passengers are strongly encouraged to check the status of the parking lots on the homepage of FlyDenver.com or follow us on Twitter. In addition, there are a number of off-airport parking lots that may have availability and are a good alternative.

As a reminder, DEN’s Valet and Reserved garage parking areas remain closed. We recommend that passengers also consider riding the RTD A-line which is a convenient, cost-effective way to get to DEN.
