Pikes Peak Shuttle Lot Temporarily Opening This Weekend Due to Increased Passenger Traffic

Home

DENVER – Oct. 21, 2021 – Denver International Airport (DEN) once again anticipates a busy travel weekend with the potential for longer security lanes and parking lots reaching capacity. As a result of increased passenger traffic, the Pikes Peak shuttle lot will temporarily open for passengers to park from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22 and from 4:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23.

Passengers traveling this weekend should allow extra time to get through the airport, arriving inside the airport at least two hours prior to their boarding time. Additionally, due to ongoing bus driver shortages, bus service from the Pikes Peak lot to the terminal will be reduced so passengers who park in Pikes Peak should allow an extra 45 minutes to get to the terminal. Additionally, shuttle service in both economy lots will be limited while Pikes Peak is open, but passengers can walk to the terminal from the economy lots if they do not wish to wait for a shuttle.

Arriving passengers returning to their vehicle at the Pikes Peak lot will pick up the shuttle from Level 5 on the east side only, island 3 near door 511. When Pikes Peak is closed, shuttle service will continue from the terminal to Pikes Peak, even though it will be closed to entering vehicles. The only acceptable form of payment at the shuttle lot is credit card or debit card.

DEN also anticipates that all other parking facilities serving the airport will be at or near capacity and encourages passengers to seek other forms of transportation when possible, like the RTD A-Line or taking a rideshare.

The Pikes Peak lot is $8 per day and is located at 75th Ave. and North Elk St. From inbound Peña Boulevard, exit at 75th Ave. and head East to North Elk St. where you will take a right. This is currently the only entrance into Pikes Peak. The west entrance is closed due to ongoing construction. Signs are posted to help direct motorists to the lot.

Passengers are strongly encouraged to check the status of the parking lots on the homepage of FlyDenver.com or follow us on Twitter. In addition, there are a number of off-airport parking lots that may have availability and are a good alternative.

DEN’s goal is to permanently reopen the Pikes Peak shuttle lot before the holidays, depending on the ability to hire additional bus drivers. If you are looking for a job, ABM Aviation, DEN’s shuttle bus operator, is seeking CDL drivers to join their team. Class A or B CDL license with P2 endorsement is required. Starting pay is $22 – $23 per hour (depending on shift). To apply, visit jobs.flydenver.com or www.abm.com/careers search Driver.

DEN is currently the third busiest airport in the world in terms of passenger traffic and is the fastest recovering large hub airport in the United States by operations and passenger traffic.
