Overhead Sign Installation to Close Inbound Peña Boulevard at 75th Avenue Tonight

Home

DENVER – Sept. 28, 2021 – Starting at 11 p.m. tonight (Sept. 28) and continuing until 4 a.m. tomorrow, Denver International Airport (DEN) will close inbound Peña Boulevard between 75th Avenue and Jackson Gap Street for overhead sign installation. The work is part of the ongoing safety and operational improvement project on Peña Boulevard between Jackson Gap Street and Jeppesen Terminal.

During the closure, a detour will be in place requiring motorists to exit inbound Peña Boulevard at 75th Avenue and then take 75th Avenue to Jackson Gap Street where they will turn left and utilize the on-ramp to inbound Peña Boulevard (see map below).

Motorists should follow all posted signs and plan ahead – delays of up to 60 minutes are possible and passengers should give themselves additional time to get to the airport.

Overall, the project added two dedicated travel lanes from the Jackson Gap Street on-ramp. These acceleration/deceleration lanes help improve safety and traffic flow by eliminating weaving patterns due to merging traffic. Additionally, the project built a new free-flowing return-to-terminal loop at Jackson Gap Street, which will improve traffic flow and simplify the route for traffic returning to the terminal.

This phase of the project is nearly complete with additional work as part of the next phase starting later this year.

The improvements on Peña Boulevard are part of DEN’s Vision 100 Plan, which is focused on preparing the airport to effectively serve 100 million annual passengers in approximately 10 years. Read more about Vision 100 here.
