Runway 8-26 Now Open for Flights

In early April, Runway 8-26 closed due to low flight volumes and was utilized by airlines to park unused aircraft. We have now opened Runway 8-26 for incoming and outgoing flights.

There are currently 27 aircraft parked at remote de-icing pads and lesser-used taxi ways. We have seen as many as 76 planes parked at one time

North Security Checkpoint Reopened for Passenger Screening

TSA will continue to operate all three security checkpoints under normal operating hours:

  • North Security Checkpoint – 4 a.m.-9 p.m.
  • A-Bridge Security Checkpoint – 4:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • South Security Checkpoint – 24 hours

Passenger Traffic Numbers

Passenger and employee traffic through TSA checkpoints experienced a slight uptick last week at DEN and was down 86.3 percent last week, compared to the same week in 2019. The week before, traffic through DEN checkpoints was down about 89 percent.

Other Operational Impacts

  • DEN’s East Economy parking lot and shuttle lots, including Pikes Peak and Mt. Elbert are closed. Parking rates in the open lots including garages, West Economy and 61st and Peña have not changed
  • Many of DEN’s concessionaires are making their own business decisions to close or reduce hours. Here is a list of open concessions
