Moody’s Rating Agency Affirms Denver International Airport’s Revenue Bond Ratings

DENVER – Nov. 10, 2025 – Moody’s Ratings recently affirmed the Aa3/A1 stable rating DEN citing the airport’s robust performance and liquidity and strong enplanement growth.

“We remain committed to ensuring a strong financial position that can weather uncertainty and change and help us realize our vision for growth,” DEN CEO Phil Washington said. “Moody’s credit rating affirms that we are in solid position as we are prepare to welcome 100 million annual passengers in the next few years. I want to thank DEN’s Finance Team, headed up by Michael Biel, and the Denver Department of Finance for their partnership.”

Moody’s justification stated that DEN’s credit profile reflects the airport’s robust performance, “with sustained enplanement growth supported by the strong tourist attractions in the area and the high income and young population base of the region.” They also cited DEN’s unique position as the largest domestic market for United Airlines, Southwest Airlines and Frontier Airlines.

“Moody’s recognition of DEN’s strong credit profile reflects our commitment to sound financial management and strategic capital investment. The City and County of Denver remains focused on delivering infrastructure that supports growth while managing debt responsibly. We are grateful to the team at DEN for their partnership,” City and County of Denver Chief Financial Officer Nicole Doheny said.

In August, Fitch Rating affirmed the AA- rating of DEN’s $3.9 billion senior airport revenue bonds and affirmed the A+ rating of DEN’s $3.1 billion subordinate lien bonds. Fitch also affirmed that DEN’s bonds continue to have a “positive outlook” that reflects strong financial performance.
