TRAVEL ALERT: Jackson Gap and 75th Ave. Detours

The existing off-ramp from inbound Peña Blvd. to Jackson Gap is closed for construction. While a temporary off-ramp is available, construction activity in the area may cause travel impacts. Drivers on Jackson Gap will not be able to travel westbound on E 75th Ave. to the Pikes Peak shuttle lot. Detours are in place.

MEDIA ADVISORY: DIA and Westin Prepare for Topping Out of New Hotel

DENVER — May 20, 2014 —Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock will join Denver International Airport (DIA) CEO Kim Day, Councilman Christopher Herndon, officials from Westin Hotels and hundreds of workers contracted on the project for the official Topping Out of the new Westin hotel and conference center currently under construction at DIA. During the event, attendees will sign the ceremonial last beam before it is placed onto the top of the structure where it will remain permanently. Mayor Hancock will join iron workers to place the final bolt which will secure the beam into place.

WHAT: Topping Out ceremony for the new Westin hotel at Denver International Airport

WHEN: May 22, 2014, 10:30 a.m.

WHERE: Denver International Airport Level 5, Hotel and Transit Center Construction Site Attendees will enter through the glass doors located near the south security screening area on level 5 of Jeppesen Terminal

ACCESS: Media parking will be provided free of charge at the south end of the West Garage, Level 1. Follow signs to West Garage Parking, pull a ticket and parking staff will be onsite to direct you to event parking. Onsite parking staff will place a sticker on your ticket which allows you to exit the parking area free of charge at the end of the event. You must have your parking ticket validated by an attendant to receive free parking. After the event, in order to exit free of charge, please use Lane 16 (the booth to your far right), where parking staff will be collecting tickets for a duration of 30 minutes after the event. If you exit before the end of the event or more than 30 minutes after the event, you will need to exit at a cashier staffed booth. The garage has an 8-foot height restriction. If you plan to use a microwave or satellite truck, please park in the West Economy Lot.

Construction on the new 433,000 square foot, 14-story, 519-room Westin hotel is on schedule for completion in late 2015. The hotel will include a 26,000 square foot conference center space with 12 meeting/board rooms, a grand ballroom and two junior ballrooms.

DIA’s new Hotel and Transit Center will complete the original vision for the airport. The program is made up of three independent, yet physically integrated projects including the design and construction of a 519-room Westin hotel and conference center, a new transit center serving all Regional Transportation District buses and the new East Rail Line (operations begin 2016), and an 82,000 square foot public plaza which will be Denver’s newest venue for arts, entertainment and relaxation. The hotel will be owned by DIA and operated by Westin.
