Passenger Parking Tips to Protect Vehicles While Traveling

DENVER – Nov. 12, 2021 – The holidays are right around the corner, and more people will soon be traveling and parking at Denver International Airport (DEN). With more than 40,000 public parking spaces at DEN, the airport and the Denver Police Department (DPD) teamed up to increase patrols around DEN public parking areas as there has been an increase in vehicle theft at DEN and across the metro area. These increased patrols will continue throughout the holidays.

Although DEN is increasing patrols, it is imperative passengers take the proper steps to secure their vehicle. Follow these tips to better protect your vehicle:

  • Always lock your car, roll up the windows and take your keys with you.
  • Remove valuables or spare keys from your vehicle.
  • Never leave the car running unattended, even for a short period of time.
  • Park in well-lit and/or busy areas when possible.
  • Use an alarm system and/or steering wheel lock device.

Anyone who parks at the airport is asked to be extra vigilant and call (303) 342-4211 immediately to report suspicious activity. This is a direct line to DPD onsite at DEN.

DEN offers free vehicle services for those parked in the garages, economy or shuttles lots including jump starts, help locating your vehicle, tire inflations, and retrieving your keys if they’ve been locked in your vehicle. For any of these services, call (303) 342-4645, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

As a reminder, passengers should take a picture of the level and row sign located nearest your parked vehicle before you head into the terminal. Click here for an online tool to help you remember where you parked at DEN.
