Improvements at Denver International Airport to Help Ease Travelers Journey Through the Airport

Home

DENVER – Nov. 1, 2021 – Denver International Airport (DEN) is making three big changes to create a better experience for travelers. These changes will take effect this week and include:

TSA Security Lanes Reconfigured

DEN has worked closely with TSA to create a plan to improve passenger flow through security, especially during heavy banks of flights. As a result, the following changes to the checkpoints will be in effect starting Nov. 2. It is extremely important for passengers to be aware of these changes to ensure they access the correct checkpoint. Please note, that from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., the South Security Checkpoint will continue to be the 24-hour checkpoint that remains open overnight.

North Security Checkpoint:

  • TSA PreCheck: Pre-check passengers will begin transitioning to the North Security Checkpoint where more lanes will be dedicated to this traveler group. Starting Nov. 10, PreCheck will only be available at the North Security Checkpoint
  • Clear Customers: A Clear lane is available on the east side of the North Security Checkpoint for those travelers who are Clear customers with TSA PreCheck
  • Travel-Lite Lane: TSA will have a “Travel-Lite” lane at the North Security Checkpoint only for travelers with one item such as a backpack, briefcase or purse
  • Premium/Premier Traveler Lane: This lane will be available on the west side of the North Security Checkpoint
  • Standard Screening: A limited number of standard screening lanes will be available at the North Security Checkpoint, but this checkpoint is not recommended for standard screening

South Security Checkpoint:

Standard Screening: This checkpoint is dedicated to standard screening travelers

Clear Customers: A Clear lane is available at the South Security Checkpoint for those travelers without TSA PreCheck

TSA PreCheck: Between Nov. 2 and Nov. 9, PreCheck services will be minimal at the South Security Checkpoint and passengers are encouraged to utilize the North Security Checkpoint. Starting Nov. 10, there will no longer be PreCheck lanes at the South Security Checkpoint.

Construction Wall Removal

As of today, Nov. 1, the walls in the center of Level 5 have been removed as a result of the completion of Phase 1 of the Great Hall Project. This means travelers can now traverse the Terminal from north to south on Level 5 without any detours, making it easier to access the correct security checkpoint.

Starting Nov. 4, Southwest passengers will utilize the new ticketing/bag-drop area in the center of Level 6 on the east side. At this time, the walls in the center of Level 6 east inside and at the curb will be removed, further improving accessibility in the Terminal.

Additionally, starting Nov. 10 United passengers will utilize the new ticketing/bag drop area in the center of Level 6 on the west side. This also means the walls in the center of Level 6 west inside and at the curb will be removed.

These new ticketing kiosks and self-bag drop kiosks will expediate the check-in process.

Pikes Peak Shuttle Lot Opening on Weekends

The Pikes Peak Shuttle Lot is now opening every weekend to accommodate higher passenger volumes often experienced during this time. The lot will be open Fridays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 4:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. until further notice. Travelers utilizing Pikes Peak should allow an extra 30 minutes to get to the terminal.

During the week when the lot is closed, shuttles will continue to run from the terminal to the lot for passengers to retrieve their vehicles. Passengers may pick up the shuttle to return to their cars in Pikes Peak on the East side only, Level 5, Island 3. The number for pick up is 303-342-4160.

While these changes are important, we won’t stop there. We will keep innovating and improving.”
