DENVER, CO — Oct. 3, 2013 — Denver International Airport (DIA) has been named the winner of the prestigious Best Food & Beverage-Related Innovation award for its Premium Value Concessions (PVC) Program.
The award was announced Wednesday night at the Moodie Report’s third annual Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Awards being held this week in Dubai.
The award recognizes DIA’s innovative new approach to retaining the best shopping and dining concepts. The PVC program rewards the airport’s top performing program participants with the opportunity to enter into direct negotiations for new contracts in lieu of going through the request for proposal process. Program performance is measured by contract compliance, sales and customer service. DIA worked in collaboration with many of its tenants to design and develop the PVC program, which officially started on Aug. 1, 2012.
“We are very proud of our commercial team members, who have brought a new approach to retaining the best shopping and dining operators at the airport. Their strategy is benefiting the airport, our concession partners – and most importantly – our customers,” said Kim Day, Denver’s manager of aviation. “We’re delighted and honored by this award, which reaffirms that Denver International Airport is one of the best airports in the world. I want to thank and congratulate our concessionaire partners, who have helped to make this program such a success.”
Additionally, DIA is proud to announce that Crú Food & Wine Bar, operated by HMSHost, was named the Best Airport Wine Bar at the awards ceremony. Crú, which is located on the B Concourse at DIA, opened in December 2012. Crú Food & Wine Bar has been the annual recipient of the Award of Excellence by Wine Spectator magazine since 2004.
