Air France becomes first SkyTeam Alliance member to provide transatlantic service at DEN

DENVER – April 15, 2021 – Today Air France announced new service between Denver International Airport (DEN) and Paris-Charles De Gaulle (CDG) beginning July 2, 2021. Flights are scheduled to operate three days per week onboard a Boeing 787-9 aircraft. This will be the first-ever service by Air France to DEN.

“These new flights directly reflect the work we have done to position Denver as a global city,” said Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock, “With nonstop service to Paris, Air France is supporting our economic recovery with jobs and an investment in our region’s tourism and hospitality industry. It is tremendous news.”

In July Air France will become the 24th airline to serve DEN and will join SkyTeam Alliance members Delta and Aeromexico at DEN. The Air France DEN-CDG service will mark the first time a SkyTeam Alliance carrier will connect Denver nonstop with Europe. The new flights, scheduled to operate through Oct. 29, are estimated to generate between $12 – $20 million in annual economic impact to Colorado’s economy, and create up to 150 new jobs.

“We know people everywhere are eager to travel safely, and Air France is just as eager to provide them the opportunity to travel the world,” said Stéphane Ormand, Vice President and General Manager, USA for Air France KLM. “We look forward to connecting Denver to our global network and providing passengers the opportunity to benefit from our commitment to exceptional service and the health and safety of everyone on board.”

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Denver ranked as one of the top 10 U.S. markets in terms of demand for travel to Paris. The Air France DEN-CDG service will provide a unique new option for travelers in summer 2021 as restrictions are eased. Travelers from France seeking access to National Parks and outdoor recreation will find Denver to be the perfect gateway to Colorado and the Mountain West. And Denver-originating travelers who are ready for transatlantic travel will have a new convenient nonstop option available, both reducing travel time to Paris and providing increased connecting options for further travel in the region.

“The establishment by Air France of a brand-new transatlantic route during the most challenging time in aviation history is a remarkable endorsement of the resiliency of demand for travel to Denver,” said DEN CEO Kim Day. “We are confident Air France will find success in Denver and we have no doubt that travelers will embrace these new nonstop flights to Paris over the long term.”

The new Air France DEN-CDG flights will be open for sale as of today. Service start is contingent on changes to travel bans currently in effect which do not allow non-essential travel between the United States and Europe.
