Picture of construction activities on DEN's new hotel.DENVER — May 5, 2015 — As Denver International Airport (DIA) prepares to open the new Westin Denver International Airport hotel and conference center this November, the airport is once again offering the public a look inside the facility as construction continues.

The airport is offering free, 45-minute hard-hat tours of this active construction site on select Fridays and Saturdays beginning May 15 and ending June 20. Tours are available on a firstcome, first-served basis, and are limited to a maximum of 15 people ages 18 and older. Guides will treat participants to a tour of the new public plaza and the Westin Denver International Airport hotel and conference center. Because construction of the program is constantly evolving, each tour will be unique.

“The airport is in the home stretch of construction on the Hotel and Transit Center, and we’re excited to give the public another inside look at the progress being made as we near the opening of the Westin hotel this fall,” said Stu Williams, DIA’s senior vice president for the Hotel and Transit Center and special projects.

For more information, or to sign up for a tour date, visit http://www.flydenver.com/hotel_transit_center/tours. All tour dates are first-come, first-served. Since this remains an active construction site, guests must wear pants that cover the ankle, shirts with long sleeves and boots that cover the ankle. No high heels or open-toed shoes are allowed. Guests will be required to wear the provided safety gear on-site, including a hard hat, vest, boots, safety glasses and gloves.

In the same year that DIA is celebrating its 20th anniversary, the opening of the Hotel and Transit Center will complete the original vision for the airport with a 519-room Westin hotel and conference center, a new transit center serving Regional Transportation District (RTD) buses and the new East Rail Line, and a public plaza which will be Denver’s newest venue for arts, entertainment and relaxation.

The hotel, which is owned by DIA and operated by Westin, is on schedule to open this November. The RTD East Rail Line, which will connect DIA to Denver Union Station in approximately 35 minutes, is scheduled to begin operations in early 2016.
