DENVER – Dec. 17, 2016 – Today, Denver International Airport (DEN) celebrated an air service hat trick with Great Lakes Airlines beginning nonstop service to Telluride, Colorado, a new destination; Aeromexico adding nonstop service to Monterrey, Mexico as a new destination to its line-up, and Allegiant Air joining the DEN team offering nonstop service to Montrose, Colorado. The addition of these destinations and a new airline shows the amazing growth and diversity of service that DEN offers.
“We are excited to welcome Allegiant Air as the newest airline to Denver International Airport providing passengers another ultra-low-cost carrier choice to Montrose a regional destination,” said airport CEO Kim Day. “With Aeromexico offering flights to Monterrey and Great Lakes to Telluride, we continue to grow both our regional and international connectivity providing more options to Denver’s travelers.”
Great Lakes is now offering flights to Telluride, Colorado, which is a new destination for DEN travelers. Through the peak winter season, Great Lakes will provide ten departing and arriving flights per week with no service on Tuesdays. Arrivals to DEN are at 1:06 p.m. and 4:46 p.m. with departures from DEN at 10:35 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. The flights will operate using a Hawker Beechcraft 1900D with 19 seats.
“We are excited to bring nonstop service from Denver to Telluride, a premier leisure destination in both winter and summer,” said Chuck Howell, Great Lakes’ president. “Telluride Regional Airport’s convenient location close to the center of town and mountain village allows customers more time to enjoy their vacations.”
Aeromexico is adding Monterrey, Mexico to its international network from DEN. This service will operate seasonally from Dec. 17, 2016, to Jan. 15, 2017, on Saturdays and Sundays. The flight departs Monterrey at 8:42 a.m. and arrives at DEN at 10:45 a.m. The flight then departs from DEN at noon and arrives in Monterrey at 3:50 p.m. The flights will operate using an Embraer 170 with 76 seats.
“Adding a flight between Denver and Monterrey reflects our commitment to expand our presence in the Denver market, and to increase connectivity between the two countries,” stated Gonzalo Robles, Aeromexico’s Sales VP North America. “Monterrey is one of our most important hubs in Mexico, our clients will have the added option to connect to over 15 domestic destinations from Monterrey with nonstop flights to Cancun, Guadalajara, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosi, Hermosillo and many others.”
Allegiant Air is now offering service to Montrose, Colorado, seasonally from Dec. 17, 2016 to Mar. 25, 2017. Allegiant Air will offer the flight twice per week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, using an Airbus A319 with 156 seats. The flights are currently scheduled to arrive at DEN at 11:34 a.m. and depart at 12:14 p.m.
“We’re very excited to begin service at Denver International Airport with these nonstop flights to Montrose, just a short ride from Telluride,” said Jude Bricker, Allegiant Air’s chief operating officer. “We know that these low-cost, nonstop flights to this popular ski destination will be a hit with local Denver travelers who want to get to the slopes this winter.”
All of this new service strengthens Denver’s connectivity during the peak ski season. In the 2015-2016 ski season, Colorado captured 24 percent of the national skier market, more than any other state. Visitation from international markets is also strong.
