DENVER – Nov. 16, 2023 –Denver International Airport (DEN) is prepared for a busy Thanksgiving holiday travel period. From Friday, Nov. 17, through Monday, Nov. 27, more than 785,000 passengers are forecasted to travel through DEN TSA checkpoints. This is nearly a 13% increase from the same period in 2022. DEN estimates the busiest days during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday will be Wednesday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 26.
For those traveling this holiday, it’s important to give yourself plenty of time to get through security and navigate the airport before your flight. Passengers should arrive inside the airport at least two hours before their scheduled boarding time and be prepared for longer lines.
Here are a few tips for a smooth traveling experience this holiday weekend:
TSA
There are four new TSA PreCheck lanes that will be available near the South TSA Checkpoint. These lanes are open from 4 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. and are located on the north side of the South TSA Checkpoint (near Baggage Claim 7). Along with more modern equipment in general screening areas, these lanes will provide a more efficient security experience for passengers.
Passengers are strongly encouraged to use the primary checkpoints for TSA PreCheck and standard screening as outlined below.
South Security Checkpoint: Primary checkpoint for standard screening, open 24/7
North Security Checkpoint: Primary checkpoint for TSA PreCheck passengers, open 4 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.
A-Bridge Security Checkpoint: Standard passengers only, open from approximately 4:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
For real-time security wait times and to help select the best checkpoint, passengers can check FlyDenver.com.
Passengers may sign up for expedited screening programs available at DEN checkpoints. Learn more about TSA PreCheck and CLEAR. Additionally, DEN RESERVE is a free service that allows all passengers to reserve a dedicated time slot through DEN’s Bridge TSA Security Checkpoint for their party – giving them a more predictable and seamless travel experience. For more information about DEN Reserve and to make a reservation as early as three days before a flight, visit Flydenver.com/security/den-reserve/.
Parking
All DEN on-site parking lots are open except valet parking in both garages. The repair work in the East Economy Lot is nearing completion and the 2,400 spaces that were closed earlier this year will reopen in time for the holiday.
The Pikes Peak and Longs Peak shuttle lots are a great, cost-effective parking option at only $8 a day.
DEN has a total of 36 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations available on Level 1 of the parking garages. There is no charge to use the stations, however, the standard garage parking rates apply. Learn more and see station locations here.
Learn more about all of DEN’s parking options and see real-time parking availability at www.flydenver.com/parking-and-transportation/parking-lots/.
The airport and Denver Police Department (DPD) are working closely to minimize auto thefts in DEN public parking areas. There will be increased patrols this weekend and anyone who parks at the airport is asked to be extra vigilant and call 303-342-4211 immediately to report suspicious activity. This is a direct line to DPD onsite at DEN.
DEN Travel Assist
DEN Travel Assist brought to you by SkySquad is a new program designed to help travelers navigate DEN efficiently and with ease. Starting at just $59, DEN Travel Assist offers a simple online platform to book airport assistance.
Travelers needing extra assistance can visit FlyDenver.com/at-the-airport/services-and-amenities/travel-assist/ to make a reservation.

DEN Travel Assist assistants can meet customers at their airline ticket counter, at their car to unload luggage, bags, car seats and more. DEN Travel Assist handles all the baggage, walks customers to check-in and ensures a seamless process.
