DENVER – Oct. 10, 2017 – August was the second-busiest month in Denver aviation history, and the 24th consecutive month of record year-over-year passenger traffic increases at Denver International Airport (DEN).

A total of 5,727,326 passengers flew through DEN in August, 6.1 percent more than the 5,395,910 passengers in August 2016. International passenger traffic also increased 15 percent compared to last August, with 223,459 international passengers.

“August marked an impressive two full years of record monthly passenger traffic increases,” airport CEO Kim Day said. “Airlines continue to invest in the Denver market by adding capacity and new routes, including new service in August by Frontier to Providence, Rhode Island, and by United to Columbia, Missouri. At the end of August, DEN had scheduled service to 180 nonstop destinations around the world.”

Mail, freight and express cargo operations increased 8.5 percent in August, with 52,257,706 pounds, compared to 48,180,814 pounds of cargo in August 2016.
