DENVER – April 1, 2019 – Traveling can be stressful, especially for our furry friends. To provide a calm and relaxing space for four-legged travelers, Denver International Airport (DEN) announced today that “Premium Pet” a luxury pets-only, airport lounge will be coming to DEN in late 2019.
Located near gate A13, the lounge will be the first pets-only space in any U.S. airport and joins other pet friendly amenities at DEN including three, post-security pet relief areas and our popular Canine Airport Therapy Squad (CATS).
“Premium Pet” will offer full meals, snacks and other refreshments to guests, including toilet bowl or baconflavored water and a selection of local meats, craft kibble and catnip; Organic and gluten-free options are available and your pet can even take a doggie bag of treats to go. Other in-lounge amenities include comfortable couches for napping, rotating fire hydrants, custom scratching posts and cat trees and spa services like grooming and pet-icures. Various toys, balls and other play things are available for purchase. In addition, “Premium Pet” carries its own line of couture clothing and accessories for those looking to dress their pet in the hottest pet fashion.
The lounge is equipped with personal entertainment systems playing favorites like “Lady and the Tramp,” “The Secret Life of Pets,” “Citizen Canine” and streaming shows on Animal Planet. Additionally, for pets feeling homesick, “window-down air simulator pods” are available to ensure pets feel as if they are in the comfort of their human’s backseat.
“We know many passengers are now traveling with their pets and our new pet lounge will allow our passengers to pamper their pet before a flight or during a layover while they enjoy some of DEN’s great shops and restaurants,” said Stacey Stegman Senior Vice President of Global Communications and Marketing.
A one-day “Pet Pass” is available at the door for $15. While the lounge is reserved for canine and feline passengers, pets are permitted to invite their emotional-support person into the lounge for an additional $20. However, only minimal food options are available for human companions and seating is reserved for pets.
In addition to “Premium Pet,” DEN will celebrate the opening of two new lounges for human passengers later this year: Plaza Premium, a common use lounge on Concourse A and the American Express Centurion Lounge on Concourse C.
Denver International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. DEN is the primary economic engine for the state of Colorado, generating more than $36 billion for the region annually.
