DENVER – April 10, 2019 – Passenger traffic data from Denver International Airport in January and February this year show the strong pattern of growth for the airport is continuing. February 2019 marked the 17th consecutive month of record-breaking passenger traffic.
January 2019 was the busiest January on record as over 4.9 million passengers passed through the airport, an increase of nearly five percent from the same time last year. Additionally, the next month was the busiest February in the airport’s history with 4.5 million passengers, an increase of 5.6 percent. International passenger traffic also continues to grow, reporting a 4.5 percent increase in February this year over last year.
“The passenger traffic from the beginning of the year shows that Denver International Airport is set to continue to break records in 2019,” said DEN CEO Kim Day. “January and February both showed strong gains in origin-destination travelers as our airline partners continue to invest in and add flights and new options from DEN.”
The announcement follows recent news that DEN, as the fifth-busiest airport in the United States, welcomed 64.5 million travelers in 2018.
Mail, freight and express cargo operations also saw increased levels in January and February:
