DENVER – March 28, 2017 – Denver International Airport (DEN) had its busiest January in Denver history with 4.4 million passengers passing through DEN. This was an increase from January 2016 of 145,430 passengers.
A total of 4,434,862 passengers passed through the airport in January, more than 3 percent higher than during the same time in 2016.
“Denver International Airport ended 2016 with a record 58.3 million passengers, so we are excited to see that growth continue into January,” airport CEO Kim Day said. “These numbers were bolstered in part by a 2 percent increase in international passenger traffic and continued increases in overall capacity by United, Southwest and Frontier, which makes for a strong start to 2017.”
Mail, freight and express cargo operations saw 43,773,291 pounds of cargo in January 2017, an increase of 4.5 percent compared to January 2016. This increase starts 2017 off with higher volume than 2014 and 2016. The increase was spread across almost all of the cargo carriers.
