Data collected will measure travel sentiment and demand

DENVER – Feb. 4, 2026 –  Denver International Airport (DEN), in partnership with the University of Colorado Boulder’s Leeds School of Business – Business Research Division, announced the launch of a new quarterly survey designed to measure travel sentiment and demand. The findings will inform the newly established Denver International Airport Travel Index, serving as a barometer and a recurring snapshot of near-term expectations for business, leisure and personal travel for the airport’s use.

“DEN’s passengers are our greatest source of insight into the future of air travel,” said DEN CEO Phil Washington. “Their continuous feedback, paired with CU Boulder’s expertise in the development and administration of comprehensive surveys, will equip us with timely, in-depth intelligence to help the airport continue to expand its global connectivity.”

Quarterly survey results will be compiled into the DEN Travel Index and collected long-term. Insights from the research are expected to serve as a leading indicator of near-future travel behavior and will complement other DEN research used to evaluate air service demand, new route development and enhance understanding of DEN’s passengers. It will also provide insights into macroeconomic factors that may influence travel habits and impact travel demand.

“This ongoing research with DEN will shed light on near-term travel expectations and offer a window into the general health of regional businesses and the economy,” said Brian Lewandowski, Executive Director of the Business Research Division at the Leeds School of Business. “By tracking data over time, we can analyze how external economic factors are impacting travel expectations across the region.”

DEN invites participation from travelers across Colorado and neighboring states who travel through DEN. Participants who complete the survey will be asked to continue participating on a quarterly basis. The survey opens today and will remain available through Feb. 27.
