Denver International Airport and Air Canada Celebrate New Nonstop Service Between Denver and Vancouver

Home

DENVER – May 18, 2017 – Today, Denver International Airport (DEN) celebrated Air Canada’s first nonstop flight to Vancouver, Canada, a new destination for the carrier from Denver. Flights will operate twice per day through Sept. 10, 2017, and will operate once daily throughout the rest of the year.

“Air Canada’s new flights to Vancouver mark a continued trend of international air service expansion in Denver,” Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock said. “By investing in Denver’s global presence, we provide our passengers with increased connectivity while bringing tremendous economic benefits to our region.”

Vancouver ranks as Denver’s second-largest market in Canada, behind only Toronto, and seventh-largest international market overall. Nearly 200 people per day travel between Denver and Vancouver, and the market has grown by 20 percent over the past three years.

“Air Canada has been a valued airline partner at DEN since 1995, and is our longest-tenured foreign flag carrier,” said airport CEO Kim Day. “These new flights between Denver and Vancouver will provide more options for travelers to explore two of the most dynamic cities in North America.”

Vancouver is the latest addition to Air Canada’s network portfolio in Denver. The carrier inaugurated flights to Montreal in June 2016, and has operated service to Toronto since 1995. These flights serve a high-demand market: Canada ranks as Denver’s second-largest international passenger market, behind only Mexico.

“Denver International Airport is Colorado’s gateway to the world, and it makes sense that access to Canada from this airport is only growing. Canada is Colorado’s number one trading partner, a relationship worth $4.1 billion that supports more than 141,000 jobs in this state. That could not be possible without these flights connecting our businesses and our people to one another,” said Canadian Consul General Stéphane Lessard.

The new flights will be operated by Air Canada Express on Bombardier CRJ705 aircraft with seating for 75 passengers. Flights will depart Denver at 7:55 a.m. year-round, with a second departure at 2:55 p.m. in the summer. Flights will arrive in Denver from Vancouver at 6:25 p.m. year-round, and a second arrival at 2:20 p.m. in the summer.

“Air Canada is pleased to start this new nonstop service between Denver and Vancouver. There are many affinities between the two communities, both for business and leisure. Canadians are always keen to visit Denver and Colorado. For residents of Denver and the region, this flight provides easy access to some of Canada’s most beautiful places as well as convenient onward connections through our extensive domestic and international network, especially to Asia,” said Lisa Pierce, Senior Director, USA Sales and Marketing Development.
