Cash no Longer Accepted at Parking Exit Lanes

DENVER – Jan. 2, 2025 – Denver International Airport (DEN) is transitioning to cashless kiosks at parking lane exits starting Monday, Jan. 6, 2025. Once the transition process is complete, by the end of January, drivers will not be able to pay with cash from their vehicles while exiting DEN parking facilities. Instead, those who desire to pay with cash must do so prior to arriving at their vehicles at payment kiosks located on Level 5 of Jeppesen Terminal. The transition reflects DEN’s ongoing efforts to streamline parking operations and improve the overall parking experience for customers.

“Transitioning to a cashless experience at our exit lane kiosks will improve traffic flow and create an even more efficient operation across all of DEN’s parking locations,” said Mark Nagel, Senior Vice President, DEN Parking and Commercial Transportation.

The new cash payment kiosks are located on Level 5 of the Terminal. Two kiosks are located at Terminal East (between doors 507 and 509) and another two are located at Terminal West (between doors 506 and 508).

In addition to accepting cash, the payment kiosks inside the Terminal will also accept debit and credit cards. Each machine is also enabled to accept tap-to-pay transactions (such as Apple Pay). Exit lane kiosks will exclusively accept credit or debit cards and will also provide the convenience of using tap-to-pay.

Those who elect to pay for parking inside the Terminal will be provided a receipt. Customers will be required to scan the original ticket to exit their parking location and will be allotted a certain amount of time to exit before incurring additional charges. The time limits for exiting are as follows:

  • East and West Garage: 30 minutes to exit
  • East and West Economy: 45 minutes to exit
  • Shuttle: 60 minutes to exit

DEN processes approximately 60,000 cash transactions for parking annually, which represents a small fraction of total annual transactions. Cash usage continues to steadily decline. In January of 2024, cash represented 4.25% of total parking transactions. By November of 2024, total cash transactions for DEN parking decreased to 1.11%.

These changes will not impact credit card or debit card users. Cards will still be accepted at exit lane kiosks in addition to the new kiosks that now accept cash in the Terminal.
