New flights to Monterrey, Mexico started on April 1

DENVER – April 1, 2025 – Today Denver International Airport (DEN) celebrated the expansion of service by Mexico-based Volaris with the launch of nonstop flights to Monterrey, Mexico (MTY).

“Amplifying service to major cities in Mexico, our largest international market, further strengthens DEN’s global connectivity,” said DEN CEO Phil Washington. “We appreciate Volaris’ contribution to providing more options to fit the needs of passengers and all their travel purposes.”

Flights are scheduled to operate three days a week, year-round, on an Airbus A320 aircraft. In 2024, nearly 40,000 people traveled between Denver and Monterrey, more than double the demand volume recorded in 2023.

“Volaris has always sought to go beyond Mexico’s borders, and the United States is a clear example that we are on the right path, reaffirming our commitment to increasing international air connectivity through new routes for the benefit of our customers,” said Jorge García, Director of Distribution and Market Development at Volaris. “We already have the preference of American travelers who want to visit Mexico, whether to be closer to their families and friends, enjoy the attractions that our country offers, or explore new business opportunities.”

Volaris first initiated service from DEN in December 2012 with flights to Mexico City (MEX). In July 2014, Volaris added nonstop flights to Chihuahua (CUU) and Guadalajara (GDL). Since 2012, Volaris has operated more than 9,100 DEN flights, transporting more than 1.4 million passengers between Colorado and points across Mexico.

“Mexico celebrates the addition of a new air route that will enhance commercial and tourism exchange between the United States and Mexico,” said Pável Meléndez Cruz, Consul General of México in Denver. “Volaris has steadily strengthened its position in domestic and international connectivity, and Denverites are eager and pleased to hear of more non-stop flights to Mexico. Congratulations to Volaris, and congratulations to Denver International Airport.”

In 2024, Mexico ranked as Denver’s largest international market, accounting for nearly one-third of DEN’s total international travel demand. Volaris ranks as the largest Mexican airline serving DEN, with more nonstop destinations (4) and average daily flights (6) than any other Mexico-based carrier.
