DENVER – May 27, 2020 – Denver International Airport (DEN) is on the search for knowledge-hungry kids interested in aviation to join DEN Academy! This year, DEN Academy is going virtual, giving students a taste of the aviation industry from home.
DEN Academy is an introduction to the world of aviation through interactive learning, critical thinking and team projects. Students will get an inside look into the world of aviation through video presentations from DEN professionals and virtual tours, followed by weekly hands-on projects using household objects. Topics include careers at DEN, environmental and sustainability and so much more!
The free summer academy is open to students in 7th through 10th grades. Beginning Monday, June 22, and every Monday through July 16, DEN Academy will email a video to student participants. Each video will contain an interview with a DEN professional and a tour of a location at Denver International Airport.
The videos will be paired with a fun, aviation-focused project students can complete at home. The projects will correlate with the video theme for the week, while having a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) focus.
Each Thursday, students will have the opportunity to interact with one another through Microsoft Teams. During the one-hour meet up, a DEN Academy staff member will facilitate a student discussion about the video of the week and support students as they share their projects.
To be considered, all applications must be complete and emailed to [email protected] by 5 p.m. MST on Monday, June 15. Applications will be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis.
