DENVER – May 4, 2018 – Denver International Airport’s (DEN) therapy dogs are taking their special brand of love to Denver’s Washington Park in support of the Denver Dumb Friends League.
Nineteen of the Canine Airport Therapy Squad (CATS) teams will participate in the league’s annual “Furry Scurry” fundraising walk in Washington Park on Saturday, May 5. The teams will be wearing their signature Spyder Active Sports blue plaid uniforms and will host a CATS information booth at the event. Each of the handlers also will share “trading cards” featuring their canine companions.
The two-mile walk around Denver’s Washington Park raises money for the Dumb Friends League, which cares for more than 20,000 homeless pets each year. The event helps the organization pay for medical care for sick or injured animals, behavior training that allows pets to be adopted more quickly and supports investigations of animal neglect or mistreatment.
The airport launched its popular CATS therapy dog program in October 2015. The program brings registered therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers to the airport to surprise and delight passengers. The program currently features 106 dogs representing over 45 breeds, and one feline, and their owners.
