Tips for a Safe and Smooth Trip Through the Airport this Summer

DENVER – June 30, 2021 – July is historically the busiest month of the year at Denver International Airport (DEN) and after a lull in passenger traffic last year due to the pandemic, the airport is once again expecting a busy month and busy Fourth of July weekend. In fact, we are expecting July to be our busiest month since the pandemic began.

From July 1 through July 6, over 1,250,000 total passengers are forecasted to travel through DEN. Saturday, July 3 and Monday, July 5 are expected to be busiest days of the holiday period, with estimated total passenger traffic each day over 200,000 people. This will represent a 2% increase from 2019.

Below are a handful of tips to ensure a safe and smooth trip through DEN.

Before Your Flight

Check your flight status with your airline for up-to-date delay or cancellation information.

Arrive at the airport at least two-hours before your flight to ensure plenty of time to check in and get through security.

COVID-19

Masks are still federally required to be worn inside DEN through Sept. 13. Safety is a shared responsibility and we all have a role to play in keeping one another safe and healthy. Click here to see all information regarding COVID-19 precautions at DEN.

Parking

Check FlyDenver.com before heading to the airport to confirm parking availability. DEN’s shuttle parking lots, including Pikes Peak and Mt. Elbert and valet parking in both garages are currently closed. All other DEN public parking lots are open, including 61st and Peña ($6/day, $3/12 hours), Economy ($17/day, $5/hour, daily rate drops to $15 after the third day), Garage ($28/day, $5/hour) and Short Term ($144/day, $6/hour). Off-airport shuttle lots are also a great option for travelers seeking a shuttle option – click here to see a list of off-airport lots.

Security Checkpoints

If you’re flying into or out of an A-Gate, consider using the A-Bridge Security and walk across the A-Bridge to access the concourse and terminal and baggage claim rather than use the train.

Security checkpoint hours:
North Security Checkpoint: 4 a.m.-9 p.m.
A-Bridge Security Checkpoint: 4:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
South Security Checkpoint: 24 hours

Concessions

The majority of DEN’s concessions are operating normally, including newly opened restaurant hotspot Snooze! View our dining options here.

Skip the wait and order from Eats Delivered to have food or convenience items delivered to you anywhere inside DEN in 30 minutes or less. Download the AtYourGate app or visit order.atyourgate.com then get to ordering!

Park on the Plaza

Find an outdoor oasis on the plaza, between the Westin and the terminal, throughout the summer. Grass-like turf and lounge seating are available for passengers to enjoy.

Navigating the Terminal

Passengers must use Level 5 in order to walk from the south side of the terminal to the north side.

Look for ambassadors or CATS members in purple plaid vests who are happy to assist!
