DENVER — Oct. 29, 2015 — Denver International Airport (DIA) today joined Consul General of Canada, Marcy Grossman, and representatives of Air Canada to celebrate 20 years of Air Canada service in Denver.

At a special event this morning, a proclamation signed by Mayor Michael B. Hancock was read declaring Oct. 29 as “Air Canada Day.”

The proclamation states, “Air Canada is a premier carrier for transporting passengers between Denver and Canada, and is the longest tenured international flag carrier operating at Denver International Airport. Air Canada is to be commended for their long-term commitment to strengthening economic ties through air service between Denver and Canada.”

“Therefore, I, Michael B. Hancock, Mayor of the City & County of Denver, by virtue of the authority vested in me, do hereby officially proclaim October 29, 2015, to be known as Air Canada Day.”

Canada is the second largest market by country served by DIA and is Colorado’s largest trading partner.

“Air Canada plays a critical role in the health of our airport and our international network,” airport CEO Kim Day said. “Over the last 20 years, Air Canada has transported more than 3.2 million passengers between Denver and Canada, connecting business and tourists alike. We look forward to our continuing partnership with our neighbors to the north.”

Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police also attended the celebration.

“Air Canada is proud of its longstanding service to Denver and our partnership with the Denver International Airport. Apart from bringing Canadians to the region for business and leisure, we are also pleased to offer residents of the Denver region easy access to our extensive international network by connecting through our Toronto-Pearson global hub,” said Lisa Pierce, Senior Director U.S. Sales and Marketing for Air Canada.
