Weekend flights to Mexico City resumed August 1

DENVER – Aug. 5, 2020 – On Saturday, Aug. 1, Denver International Airport (DEN) welcomed the return of Aeromexico to Denver with flights to Mexico City (MEX). Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mexico ranked as Denver’s largest international market in terms of demand. Aeromexico’s return demonstrates interest in travel between Denver and Mexico in the current environment.

“We are pleased to welcome Aeromexico back to Denver,” said airport CEO Kim Day. “Aeromexico has been a long-time partner of DEN and provides a critical connection between Denver and Mexico. We look forward to supporting the return of this nonstop flight and welcoming passengers while keeping everyone’s health and safety top of mind.”

Aeromexico has implemented a Health Sanitization Management System (HSMS), a health standard to protect passengers at every step of their journey with measures such as constant sanitization and aircraft fogging, among others extensive safety protocols. More information about HSMS is available here. DEN is also committed to traveler safety, learn more about the airport’s We’re Ready When You’re Ready initiative here.

To celebrate this announcement, Jose Zapata, Sales Director, Mexico-JCA, Aeromexico, added “On behalf of Delta and Aeromexico, I want to thank our friends from Denver International Airport for their collaboration and warm welcome. We are very excited to be back in Denver and looking forward to connecting the people from the Mile High City and Colorado with Mexico. When flying on Aeromexico our customers will enjoy the best service with the highest levels of safety and cleanliness.”

Aeromexico has a long tenure of serving Denver dating back to 2009. Now, the flights between Denver and Mexico City will operate on Saturdays and Sundays on 160-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft. In September, the carrier will increase frequency to three times per week, adding service on Thursdays.

Mexico’s global airline is a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, and a strong partner of Delta Air Lines. Together, the two airlines have delivered benefits to shared customers in the USA and Mexican markets since they signed their Joint Cooperation Agreement (JCA) in May 2017.

Most countries have travel restrictions in place and passengers are advised to check current advisories before traveling. DEN anticipates additional international service to resume as governments lift restrictions and demand for international travel returns.
