Concourse A/E/C Program

BDTA offers three course levels for the AEC Concourse Program: Concourse 100, 200, and 300

Concourse 100 is designed for entry level businesses that have little or no experience working at DEN, or businesses that have completed work at DEN but have experienced a turnover of staff resulting in lost experience.

Concourse 200 is designed for experienced small businesses that have either completed Concourse 100 or completed several projects at DEN as either a prime or sub-contractor.

A/E/C Concourse 100 Course Description

The Business Development Training Academy (BDTA) AEC Concourse 100 is an eight-week course that will provide your business with a high-level overview of numerous important topics related to doing contract work at Denver International Airport (DEN). These topics include, understanding the DEN organization chart, how to network and build relationships, understanding contracts and contract types, safety, risk management, insurance, bonding, the procurement process, and finances. This course is ideal for businesses who have limited to no knowledge or experience at DEN and would like to learn the key knowledge and skills needed to bid and win contracts at DEN.

A/E/C Concourse 200 Course Description

The Business Development Training Academy (BDTA) AEC Concourse 200 is a highly interactive, eight-week course that takes an in-depth look at many critical concepts related to doing contract work at Denver International Airport (DEN) and increase your knowledge of the contract life cycle from advertisement to closeout. Topics include the RFP process, execution of contract expectations, contract management responsibilities, software, regulations, compliance, and the closeout process. Each week, students will work in teams to apply the information they have learned to create artifacts and documents that will be a part of the capstone group presentation. Classes will be taught by industry experts, key DEN staff, and prime contractors. This course will prepare you to submit proposals and win contracts at DEN, but it will take a high level of commitment and require time outside of the scheduled class time to complete.

Week 1	Orientation	Learn an overview of the Capstone Project and Weekly Classes
Week2	RFP Part 1	Learn how to assess and analyze an RFP to determine whether to bid or not to bid on the RFP (Go/No Go).
		Learn the basics of responding to a DEN RFP. Some of the key questions that should be answered are the
		following:
		How to develop the Project Management Approach
		How to create a staffing plan
		How to identify the MWBE/DBE/SBE participation goal
Week 3	RFP Part 2	Learn a high-level overview of the Design Review Committee:
		Purpose of the Committee
		Key members of the Committee
		Example forms utilized
		Learn an overview of the selection panel activities –
		This will include the interview process and how the small business is integrated into the process.
		DSBO Objectives
		Provide an overview of the Letter of Intent and the processes supporting receiving and documenting the LOI.
		High-level overview of EDI plan
Week 4	Execution of Contract	Learn the difference between Award and Execution of a project.
		Review of any forms associated with the Award and Execution.
		Learn a high-level overview of the Notice to Proceed process.
		Review of any forms associated with the Award and Execution.
Week 5	Contract Management Part 1	Learn about DSBO Compliance
		The Basics to success – high-level summary
		Learn how to identify what Prevailing Wage is needed for the project and stay within compliance
Week 6	Contract Management Part 2	DEN Forms and Processes for the following:
		Payment Process
		Change Order Process
		Learn how to understand the Project Schedule
Week 7	Closeout	Learn the Closeout Process (CM-75 Checklist)
Week 8	Mock RFP Presentation to Panel	Students will work with assigned groups to prepare and present an RFP response to a mock interview panel composed of airport experts and prime contractors
