ART AT DEN

Creative Opportunities for Artists at DEN

Back

DEN is proud to collaborate with an inspiring array of regional, national and international artists from a diverse set of backgrounds and mediums to bring an exceptional selection of art into our spaces. Currently, DEN does not have any open calls to artists, please check back for future opportunities.

Public Art

DEN’s Public Art Program works with local, national and international artists and has built a collection with over 34 public art installations comprised of 230 individual works. The collection continues to grow today.

Enhancing the passenger experience, public art can be found along Peña Blvd., the Jeppesen Terminal, all three concourses, the Westin Hotel, DEN Plaza, and the RTD A-Line platform. When the airport opened in 1995, DEN’s art collection was heralded as one of the most innovative airport art collections in the world. Each public artwork is site specific and commissioned in accordance with the City and County of Denver’s Public Art Policy and 1% For Public Art Ordinance. Learn more about Denver’s Public Art Policy and the selection process through our guiding documents.

Exhibitions

The DEN ARTS Program hosts multiple locations for rotating exhibitions for travelers and staff to experience arts and culture of Colorado when they pass through the airport. DEN ARTS exhibitions are typically Colorado themed and feature artists and organizations that reside within the state.

The exhibitions curator organizes rotating displays, exhibitions and experiences for our passenger’s campus wide. The rotating exhibitions programs currently exists in Ansbacher Hall (prior to Airport Office Building), the Airport Office Building Lobby, A Gates Y-Juncture and Mezzanine, and C Gates Mezzanine. Additional spaces are utilized as opportunities arise. Exhibition topics are developed by the curator in collaboration with museums, non-profit organizations, and individuals to present the diverse art, history, and culture of Colorado. We are currently updating our formal proposal process, but in general we look for work samples (a pdf of available artwork to display, or a link to a website or digital portfolio), and a written proposal that addresses the theme and how your work creates a sense of place for travelers and staff.
