In celebration of 150 years of Colorado history, this exhibition brings together artwork from students at three secondary schools within Denver Public Schools (DPS), offering a powerful and personal perspective on the landscapes, cultures and communities that shape our state. Each piece of artwork tells a story of Colorado’s past, present and future.
This collection reflects a wide range of artistic media, styles and voices. Some works are inspired by the natural beauty of Colorado, while others highlight the people, traditions and everyday moments that define life here in the Mile High City. Together, these pieces form a collective portrait of a state that is both deeply rooted in history and constantly evolving.
For these young artists, this exhibition is more than an opportunity to share their work. It is a chance to contribute to Colorado’s story. Their perspectives remind us that history is not merely something we inherit, but something we actively create. As you view the art in this exhibit, our student artists invite you to pause, reflect and consider your own connection to our 150-year-old state.
