About the Artist, Bringing Back the Arts

The “Bringing Back the Arts” competition is the signature feature of the First Lady’s initiative, which works to restore art programs in Denver Public Schools, expand access to our city’s cultural institutions for all residents and spotlight local performing artists. About Bringing Back the Arts

“Bringing Back the Arts” was an initiative by First Lady of Denver Mary Louise Lee that is available for all of Denver schools. in 2016, Lee hosted the fourth annual visual arts competition, with more than 150 Denver Public Schools’ students ages 7 -18. Students created two- and three-dimensional artwork that reflected the idea of how “We Are All Denver.” The award-winning artwork revealed how the students artistically explored and visually expressed what makes Denver a great city, the important role each of us plays in our community and how it can be celebrated.
