DEN Vendor Draws on a Multi-Generational Family Recipe to Offer Visitors One-of-a-Kind Treats
George Baines found a gateway to DEN at the Snack and Souvenir Expo.
In 2023, Baines was on the hunt for places to sell his product, poundcakes lovingly created from a family recipe that stretches back generations. He connected with DEN’s business community, and presented his product at the expo, an event designed to connect entrepreneurs, establish connections and offer access to the airport’s business landscape to underserved communities.
Three years later, attending that first expo is still paying off. Working with DEN vendors, Baines now offers his poundcakes at three locations at DEN, one in Concourse B two in Concourse C (High Dune near B67, Longs Peak near gate C64 and Black Cannon near C56). He credits his success to the connections he found at that first expo.
“It’s a great opportunity for local businesses to present their products,” Baines said. “In this economy, it helps to have a customer like the airport. It’s a good experience, and I look forward to expanding when the opportunity comes up.”
With flavors like Rocky Mountain Honey, French Vanilla, Delightfully Lemon and Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Baines isn’t shy about extolling the quality of his product.
“I make the best poundcakes on the planet Earth. I challenge you to find one,” he said. “They’re all natural, artisan; our main poundcake is the Outrageous Butter, which is my grandmother’s 120-year old recipe. It was handed down from one generation to the next, down to me.”
Now, that same recipe is available to travelers from around the world, thanks to the connections Baines has made at DEN.
