Volaris will operate twice-weekly flights, year-round

DENVER – June 3, 2026 – Today Denver International Airport (DEN) and Volaris celebrated the inauguration of new, nonstop service to Querétaro, Mexico (QRO) with a colorful and lively gate event engaging passengers and employees. Volaris is the first carrier to connect DEN and QRO with nonstop flights.

“Denver is a place that brings people together through culture, history and the stories shared across our communities,” Denver Mayor Mike Johnston said. “This new international destination of Querétaro strengthens the ties between our regions and creates opportunities for travelers of all ages to experience the creativity, history and vibrance that make both destinations unique.”

Volaris flights to Querétaro are scheduled to operate two days per week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, year-round. Querétaro is the fourth destination served nonstop by Volaris from Denver, joining Chihuahua, Guadalajara and Mexico City. In 2025, Volaris ranked as the largest Mexico-based airline operating in Denver in terms of annual flight operations and passengers carried.

“The United States is a key market for Volaris, and this expansion reflects our long-term commitment to connecting more communities on both sides of the border,” said Holger Blankenstein, Volaris Executive Vice President of Airline Commercial and Operations. “By adding 11 new nonstop routes, including Denver-Querétaro, we are providing travelers in the U.S. with more affordable options to reach Mexico’s most dynamic cities, while continuing to strengthen our presence in key markets such as California, Texas, Florida, Colorado and the Midwest.”

“This inaugural flight reflects both the strong demand to different regions in Mexico and a growing partnership with Volaris in Denver,” DEN CEO Phil Washington said. “Our goal is to keep building a world-class network that supports the Colorado economy, further strengthens cultural exchange and enhances opportunity for our local communities.”

DEN now provides nonstop service to nine destinations Mexico, the most in DEN history. Totaling more than 1.3 million air travelers in 2025, Mexico ranks as DEN’s largest international country market in terms of demand.

“Mexico remains one of the United States’ most important international aviation partners, and together they share one of the world’s largest and most dynamic aviation markets, with over 307,000 flights per year,” said Pável Meléndez Cruz, Consul General of Mexico in Denver. “This flight will be part of the continued growth of this partnership, connecting one of the most historic and dynamic Mexican regions to the Rockies.”

Situated in central Mexico, north of the capital region, Querétaro was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1996 due to its well-preserved historic center. Combining a unique mix of cultural heritage and natural beauty, the area is also home to San Miguel de Allende, a city known globally as a hub for art and creativity.
