JetBlue first inaugurated DEN flights in 2001
DENVER – May 15, 2026 – Denver International Airport (DEN) and JetBlue Airways are celebrating 25 years of service in the Mile High City, marking a quarter century of transporting passengers to major U.S. gateway markets and destinations beyond. Since inaugurating service at DEN on May 17, 2001, JetBlue has operated more than 52,000 flights and served more than 6.6 million passengers.
In recognition of this milestone, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston issued a mayoral proclamation declaring May 17, 2026 as “JetBlue 25th Anniversary Day,” honoring the airline’s enduring partnership with the City and County of Denver.
“Denver is a city built on connection, and for 25 years JetBlue has helped bring people and communities together,” Johnston said. “We are proud to celebrate this milestone and JetBlue’s continued investment in Denver and commitment to the Mile High City.
JetBlue selected Denver as an early partner at a time when the airline itself was a new entrant in the industry, inaugurating nonstop service to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in 2001 and laying the foundation for a lasting relationship.
Building on that momentum, JetBlue expanded service from DEN to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) beginning in 2004, further strengthening Denver’s connections to key East Coast markets.
“Denver has been part of JetBlue’s story since our early days, and we’re proud to celebrate 25 years of service to the Mile High City,” said Daniel Shurz, JetBlue’s senior vice president of revenue, network and enterprise planning. “This anniversary is a testament to the customers who continue to choose JetBlue and to the crewmembers who have helped deliver the caring, award-winning experience our airline is known for.”
That momentum continues today. In March 2026, JetBlue also operated flights between DEN and Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to capture the strong demand for Spring Break travel between Colorado and Florida.
