DEN continues to grow and has a responsibility to evaluate all potential alternative energy sources to meet demand. For example, a significant amount of electricity is required to power existing and future operations, including the airport’s electric vehicle fleet and the future consolidated rent-a-car facility (ConRAC), as well as changes coming to the aviation industry such as electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and other electric powered aircraft. DEN is also actively looking for opportunities to transition from fossil fuel-based equipment to electricity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. That’s why the airport is pursuing an alternative energy solutions Request for Information (RFI).
