DENVER — Sept. 15, 2015 — Crews at Denver International Airport (DIA) will begin work this week to rehabilitate multiple sections of aging roadway on both inbound and outbound Peña Boulevard as part of the airport’s annual pavement rehabilitation plan.
The work will take place overnight, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Sept. 17 through Oct. 31. The work will require single-lane closures on both inbound and outbound lanes of Peña Boulevard. It includes a section of inbound Peña Boulevard from Jackson Gap Street to the East/West terminal split, and along outbound Peña Boulevard from the East Terminal exit to the Jackson Gap Street ramp, and from Gun Club Road to the 78th Avenue ramp.
Speeds will be reduced to 45 mph in construction zones and vehicle passing will not be allowed within the work areas. The project was originally scheduled to be completed during both daytime and evening hours, but it has been rescheduled to have the least amount of impact on travelers as possible. Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time to reach the airport during the work hours.
Denver International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. DEN is the primary economic engine for the state of Colorado, generating more than $36 billion for the region annually.
