The safety and well-being of our passengers and employees is our number-one priority. For everyone’s safety, DEN has made several proactive enhancements to our facility and our cleaning procedures.

The past few months at Denver International Airport (DEN) have been like nothing we’ve ever seen before. Over the course of a few very short weeks, we saw air traffic decrease by over 90%, and while DEN remained open for essential travel needs, there were no international arrivals or departures in April or May. I want to personally thank our employees, particularly our essential employees, as well as our partners and the thousands of teammates who have continued to ensure that those who fly are safe and well served.

DEN began this year celebrating our 25th birthday and looking forward to a year of more record-setting passenger traffic and an ever-improving passenger experience. Now, though we’ll serve fewer passengers, we are no less committed to our passengers and ensuring they have the best experience possible while at DEN.

Throughout the pandemic, the health and safety of our passengers and employees has remained our top priority and will continue to be our focus as more people begin travelling again this summer.

We continue to work closely with our partners at state and local health departments and follow their guidance to prevent the spread of the virus at DEN. Following public health orders from the City and the State, face coverings or masks are now required to be worn by everyone at the airport. To encourage compliance, masks are available for purchase from shops throughout the airport and at vending machines in the terminal. We believe that wearing a mask in the airport is a clear sign that you respect and care about others and your community.

In addition to requiring face coverings, DEN has put in place a number of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including installing over 100 hand sanitizer dispensers and placing disinfecting wipe dispensers in each gate area. Plexiglass barriers have been installed at TSA checkpoints, some concessions, several airline check-in desks and other locations in the airport. Throughout the airport you’ll see signage reminding passengers to practice social distancing and to wear a mask and floor decals delineating six feet for proper social distancing.

DEN’s airline partners are also focused on passenger and employee safety. Airlines have implemented robust cleaning procedures and most airlines now require passengers to wear a mask on board. Some are taking passengers’ temperatures or requiring self-health reporting prior to boarding. Many airlines have made cuts to their schedules and have changed or suspended routes through the summer, but we are also seeing the return of some flights, including international service to Mexico and Canada.

When folks begin flying again, they’ll notice some changes to our parking options – our shuttle lots, including Pikes Peak and Mt. Elbert, have closed for the time-being, as well as the East Economy Lot and valet parking in the East and West garages. However, there is still plenty of parking available in the garages and West Economy lot as well as off-airport parking locations.

Many of DEN’s concessions have closed temporarily or reduced their hours while there have been fewer passengers in the airport. As more people begin flying again, we are seeing some concessions re-open and most will continue to offer more take-out options for passengers while ensuring social distancing for dine-in eating.

We know that some people (including me) are itching to travel again, whether for work or for pleasure, but others feel a sense of apprehension. Though we cannot know when our industry will rebound or when we’ll all begin to feel “normal” again, we can assure you that we are doing everything necessary today to protect our passengers, our employees and our community. Just know that we’re ready when you’re ready!

Masks NOT Required at DEN

Flight and Airline Requirements

TSA is allowing one liquid hand sanitizer container, up to 12 ounces per passenger, in carry-on bags. TSA also asks passengers place their carry-on food items into a clear plastic bag and place that bag into a bin during screening. Learn more here.

Dining and Shopping

Many of DEN’s shops and restaurants have made changes to their operations, including reduced hours, offering grab and go options or have temporarily closed. 

Parking Updates

Currently, DEN’s garage parking, West Economy, East Economy parking lot and the 61st and Peña lot are open. DEN’s shuttle lots, including Pikes Peak and Mt. Elbert are open. Parking rates for open lots have not changed. There are also a number of off-airport parking options that offer shuttle service to DEN. Click here for more information.

Travel Restrictions

The airport remains open and flights are arriving and departing daily. However, some airlines have reduced their flight schedules and most international flights are not operating. Please confirm your flight status directly with your airline.

For Non-US Citizens:

Travel is restricted for some foreign nationals seeking entry to the U.S. For the most up-to-date information, please visit the Centers For Disease Control site here.

For U.S. Citizens

For U.S. Citizens coming back from travels abroad it is best to check with the U.S. State Department for a list of requirements and possible quarantine rules. The State Department website can be found here.

  • Hand Sanitizing Stations: DEN has installed over 100 hand sanitizing stations in high-touch areas around the airport
  • Disinfecting Wipe Dispensers: Each gate area is equipped with disinfecting wipe dispensers for passengers to take a wipe onboard to sanitize their seat on the plane
  • Frequent Cleaning: Crews clean our public areas and restrooms frequently and intensely with approved disinfecting products
  • Informational Signage: Look for signage around the airport reminding passengers to wear a mask and maintain physical distance
  • Shuttle Cleaning: Shuttles from DEN parking lots have hand sanitizer onboard are being sprayed with disinfectant and sanitized regularly with CDC-recommended cleaning supplies
  • Dining and Shopping: Many restaurants offer grab and go options. Passengers can order from the AtYourGate app and have their food delivered to them anywhere inside the airport
  • Plexiglas Barriers: Plexiglas barriers have been placed at check-in counters, TSA document screening and airline podiums
  • Social Distancing: Floor decals have been placed in many areas of queuing indicating where people should stand, and TSA lines have been reconfigured to allow space between queues
  • Touchless Payment: Procedures for touchless payment have been implemented where possible
