Starting Dec. 9, 2024, TSA will no longer operate Bridge Security on a regular basis. A-Bridge and Ansbacher Hall will remain open for arriving passengers and employees accessing the Airport Office Building. Departing travelers must use West Security Checkpoint or South Security Checkpoint.

TRAVEL UPDATE: Jackson Gap & 75th Ave. Detours

The existing off-ramp from inbound Peña Blvd. to Jackson Gap is closed for construction. While a temporary off-ramp is available, construction activity may cause travel impacts. Drivers on Jackson Gap will not be able to travel westbound on E 75th Ave. to the Pikes Peak shuttle lot. Detours are in place.

WAYFINDING: Changes to A-Bridge/ Ansbacher Hall

A-Bridge and Ansbacher Hall will be closed for overnight construction activities from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m., Monday through Thursday nights, through the opening of the East Checkpoint in Q3 2025. During closures, all travelers must use concourse trains to journey to and from the Terminal.

Description:

As a Menzies Aviation Ramp Security & Compliance Officer, you will ensure strict adherence to safety and compliance standards during ramp operations. This role focuses on identifying non-compliance, coaching employees on corrective measures, and escalating violations to the Manager on Duty (MOD) or appropriate manager for corrective action. Your primary responsibility is to oversee ramp activities to ensure everything is done safely, correctly, and in compliance with policies and procedures.

Main accountabilities include: 

  • Ensure that employees work safely in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Report security incidents, risks, or safety concerns using the Safety Management System (SMS) reporting system.
  • Recognize opportunities to contribute to the continuous improvement of security and its management.
  • Stay current with information and knowledge relevant to performing duties safely.
  • Monitor and ensure proper attachment and removal of ramp equipment, including AviRamp, stair trucks, belt loaders, lavatory trucks, pushback tugs, and super tugs.
  • Verify correct placement of safety cones at applicable areas, including:
    • Tail of the aircraft
    • Horizontal stabilizer elevator on the engine 1 side (when a stair truck is connected)
    • Wing tips
    • Nose gear
    • Engines
  • Ensure proper alignment of the stair truck and AviRamp, with the yellow tape/paint aligned with the aft door seal on the L1 and L2 doors to ensure:
    • The canopy remains free from touching the door.
    • The guardrails do not come in contact with the plane when extended.
  • Confirm pawl locks on AviRamps are correctly set and locked in place.
  • Ensure all employees adhere to uniform and PPE standards, including zipped safety vests, safety boots, and hair tied back and up for those with long hair.
  • Observe and ensure proper execution of pre-arrival and pre-departure safety huddles with full participation.
  • Monitor wing walking procedures for proper spacing and use of correct signals.
  • Confirm all pushback operations are conducted safely, including alignment with the J-line at the gate.
  • Identify and report improper operation of vehicles, such as failure to perform brake checks, unsafe speeds, or improper guidance and hand signals.
  • Escalate violations or unsafe practices to the MOD or appropriate manager for corrective action.
  • Actively observe ramp operations to identify and address any gaps in compliance.
  • Serve as a mentor by fostering a culture of safety and compliance through proactive monitoring and coaching.
  • Maintain vigilance to identify and address hazards in the work environment.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Attend training courses as may be arranged by the Company.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Successfully pass all pre-employment testing, including drug screening and a physical.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Maintain a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 70 lbs. repetitively.
  • Able to obtain and maintain all required airport and customs badges/seals.
  • Flexible working variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of ramp operations and ground handling equipment is preferred.
  • Supervisory or lead experience in the aviation industry is a plus.

  • Excellent observation skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to address non-compliance promptly and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Capability to coach and mentor employees while fostering a culture of safety.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships.

Work Environment

This is an outdoor role requiring work in all weather conditions and involves continuous monitoring of ramp activities. The focus is on ensuring safety and operational compliance, with limited administrative duties.

By enforcing compliance standards and ensuring all ramp activities are conducted correctly, you will play a critical role in upholding safety and operational excellence at Menzies Aviation.
