What We Offer

Location

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.   

The City and County of Denver utilizes a hybrid model workplace that balances the responsibilities of public service with the benefits of a flexible work environment. Employees work where needed, at a city site and/or in the field at least 3 day a week and telecommute remotely at a designated workplace within the State of Colorado the remaining days.

What You’ll Do 

The Facilities Space Planning Supervisor will oversee the tracking, planning, allocation, and management of space within DEN’s multi-tenant, multi-purpose facility campus. This is a key role in DEN Space Management. Its responsibilities include leading space planning and optimization efforts, lease coordination, and developing and implementing space allocation guidelines, policies, and procedures across the DEN campus.
A critical responsibility of this role will be managing and maintaining furniture guidelines, ensuring that all standards are met, and overseeing furniture inventory and procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

Space Utilization & Reporting:

• Track space assignments, occupancy levels, and usage rates, producing detailed reports for DEN Leadership
• Present recommendations on space optimization, consolidations, and future needs based on space utilization data.
• Monitor space reallocation and renovation projects to ensure they align with organizational goals and space standards. 

Space Planning & Allocation:

• Work with DEN leadership to develop and implement strategic space management plans that meet tenant, staff, contractor, and service provider needs.
• Assign and manage all space allocations, ensuring the efficient use of available areas.
• Collaborate with DEN partners and stakeholders to assess space requirements and propose flexible solutions.

Lease Coordination:

• Work with DEN’s lease administrators to ensure alignment between space allocations and lease agreements.
• Assist in negotiating and finalizing leases & space use by providing detailed data on space availability and utilization.
• Serve as the point of contact for tenants regarding space-related concerns.

Furniture Standards & Inventory Management:

• Work with DEN Leadership to establish, maintain, and implement furniture guidelines that meet ergonomic, operational, and aesthetic standards for the organization.
• Manage the procurement, allocation, and installation of furniture for all offices and workspaces.
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of furniture, ensuring that assets are tracked and available for new projects or workspace reconfigurations.
• Collaborate with vendors to oversee the timely delivery, maintenance, and replacement of furniture as needed.
• Conduct regular assessments of furniture needs, recommending upgrades or replacements based on usage patterns and organizational requirements.

Workflow Management:

• Develop, implement, and manage workflows related to space allocation, inspections, audits, and furniture management.
• Ensure timely updates of space planning activities and manage multiple space reconfiguration or renovation projects simultaneously.
• Use project management tools to monitor task progress, ensure deadlines are met, and maintain clear communication between departments and vendors.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Act as the primary liaison between internal departments, tenants, and external consultants on space-related projects.
• Maintain open and effective communication with stakeholders, providing updates on space assignments, inspections, and project timelines.
• Ensure that all stakeholders are informed of space policies, furniture guidelines, and any changes in space planning.

Compliance & Best Practices:

• Ensure that all space management activities comply with safety, accessibility, and regulatory standards.
• Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in space management, furniture standards, and facility operations, recommending improvements where applicable.

Job duties include:

• Represent the division/department in meetings with key stakeholders, elected and appointed officials, other city entities, and state and federal agencies. Serves as the airport’s representative with a variety of public, business, and community organizations. Fosters collaborative relationships to the benefit of the organization
• Communicates business and work area plans and goals to managers and supervisors to secure buy-in. Reviews, approves, and implements recommended changes to plans and leads the development of process and operational improvements
• Uses resources appropriately and equitably.  Removes barriers inhibiting individuals from working and communicating effectively
• Champions continuous improvement, including devising new strategies and new opportunities. Sets performance standards for the division and ensures operations achieve or exceed performance metrics.
• Demonstrates personal accountability, responsibility, and initiative
• Builds effective teams, encourages dialogue and discourse, encourages strengths, and addresses deficiencies.

• Is well versed in using Microsoft apps as well as industry standard software for space analytics and furniture tracking such as REVIT, Maximo, Power BI or similar.

Required Minimum Qualifications 

• Education:   Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: Two (2) years of professional project management experience in the related occupational group including coordinating, administering, and monitoring projects.
• Experience Equivalency:  One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
• Licensure & Certification- valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
