Location

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.   

The City and County of Denver utilizes a hybrid model workplace that balances the responsibilities of public service with the benefits of a flexible work environment. Employees work where needed, at a city site and/or in the field at least 3 day a week and telecommute remotely at a designated workplace within the State of Colorado the remaining days.

What You’ll Do 

This position supports DEN’s Sustainability Division by planning and executing administrative functions and operational programs across the programs, projects, and staff that comprise the team. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Sustainability while also functioning independently to support various staff and work throughout the Sustainability team. Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads all administrative functions across the Sustainability Division, including but not limited to purchasing and procurement, records management, permit management, vehicle coordination, travel requests, new employee onboarding, grant development, and budgeting
  • Supports DEN’s ISO 14001-certified Environmental Management System through document management, routine updates, and participating in internal and external audits
  • Serves as a liaison and central point of contact between DEN divisions and the Sustainability team, including but not limited to Airline Affairs, Asset Management, Business Technologies, Concessions, Finance, Global Communications and Marketing, Maintenance, and Operations
  • Implements new and revised operational programs, procedures, and systems for gathering and maintaining information pertinent to sustainability programs. Examples include systems used to:
    • Compile data used to calculate greenhouse gas emissions, track waste reduction accomplishments, and aircraft deicing fluid metrics
    • Develop and implement environmental and sustainability training in DEN’s online training environment
    • Receive and store data received from outside analytical laboratories
    • Connect environmental information with assets in DEN’s asset management system
  • Generates and manages content to communicate DEN’s environmental and sustainability performance and accomplishments. Content may include data, charts and graphs, and narrative summaries and is published in multiple formats including Adobe documents, intranet and internet web content, and PowerPoint presentations. Serves as a key member of the team developing DEN’s annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report.
  • Contributes research, expertise, and support to DEN’s sustainability programs and leads special projects as assigned.  Examples of special projects include marketing and communications efforts, Earth Day planning, sustainable procurement, greenhouse gas emissions inventories, and operational data dashboards.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • The ability to effectively manage workload and see projects to completion
  • A readiness to strengthen a positive, diverse, and respectful organizational culture

Required Minimum Qualifications 

  • Education:   Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of experience administering business operations or operational programs and/or assisting professional/management staff with administrative or operational functions
  • Experience Equivalency:  One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
  • Licensure & Certification- none.

Snow / Emergency Duties: Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees may be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.
