Location and Schedule:

In this position, you can expect to work on-site at Denver International Airport 40 hours a week. Depending on the project assignment, some weekend and Evening availability may be required.

Job Summary

This Director role will serve as an active, hands-on leader for DEN’s Systems Integration Management Office (SIMO), dedicated to serve as a central office ensuring the work of capital/program management, operations, maintenance, and customer service are properly tied together into one single integrated ecosystem that coordinates and anticipates system impacts, challenges, and opportunities.

Actively leads Fellows, and Interns to operationalize work outcomes for SIMO.  Manage strategic initiatives for various project teams and lead the planning and conducting of research while managing the implementation of projects testing leading-edge ideas within DEN’s Systems Integration Management Office.   

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees, directs and manages functions within SIMO, including project or program conception, development, implementation.
  • Explores, initiates, and tests leading-edge ideas from Leadership DEN’s capstone projects to develop protocols for system integration.
  • Establishes and monitors short-range and long-range goals, budgets, schedules, and strategies.
  • Ensures cooperation and coordination of services amongst departments to achieve DEN-wide goals and objectives for the Systems Integration Management Office.
  • Coordinates and disseminates information to various agencies, groups, and departments.
  • Develops, forecasts, and monitors budgets for plans, programs, and projects.
  • Provides technical support and policy guidance to management on DEN plans, programs, and projects.
  • Reviews and evaluates in conjunction with other portfolios, contractor proposals; negotiates award amounts, operating standards, and work projects; ensures productive use of contractors; and analyzes and manages contractor/consultant contracts and budgets.
  • Develops and evaluates plans and projects, and operations plans, services and schedules.
  • Oversees the preparation of comprehensive reports, correspondence, and cost estimates.
  • Supervises, trains, and provides technical assistance to assigned staff.
  • Makes recommendations to the SVP on the best possible ideas and concepts for DEN to initiate and pursue that are in alignment with SIMO priorities.
  • Directs team to collaborate and partner within the DEN enterprise and outside governmental agencies, the private sector, and policy makers to create effective and results-based partnerships.
  • Ensures compliance with DEN policies and procedures and applicable state, federal and local regulations and laws.
  • Prepares and presents reports to executive and management staff, City Council, the Mayor’s Office and outside regulatory agencies.
  • Makes presentations and represents DEN at meetings, conferences, and public events.
  • Contributes to ensuring that the EDI programs of DEN are supported.
  • May be required to perform other related job duties.

Ideal Experience 

Five years of relevant management-level experience in Aviation planning, policy, program management, or project development/management. Experience convening subject matter experts (SMEs) to streamline communications, the ability to identify all work streams within the organization and manage multiple stakeholder groups.

Minimum Qualifications

Five (5) years of experience at the type and level of functional or operational management, which must have included management of subordinate supervisors.

Two (2) years of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.

Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

Education Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in business, Public Administration, Public Policy, Aviation Planning, or a related field
