Two construction projects will impact traffic to and from Denver International Airport (DEN) this week.

Inbound Peña Blvd. lanes (heading to DEN) between Tower Rd. & the RTD bridge will be restored to their pre-existing, permanent alignment. A right inbound lane closure will be in effect from approximately 8 p.m. on May 28 to 4 a.m. on May 29. Additionally, crews will replace a damaged overhead electronic message board sign on May 28 and 29 on outbound Peña Blvd. (leaving DEN). Work is expected to start around 10 p.m. on May 28 and finish around 4 a.m. on May 29, and again around 10 p.m. on May 29 to 4 a.m. on May 30. At approximately 1 a.m., between Tower Road and E 56th Avenue, a slow rolling closure of Peña Boulevard traffic will be implemented for less than 10 minutes. Speeds will be significantly reduced. Crews will be transporting and setting bridge girders on E-470 over outbound Peña Blvd. (leaving DEN) between 11 p.m. on May 30 until 6 a.m. on May 31. Between Jackson Gap Street and E-470, approximately once every hour, slow, rolling closures of Peña will be implemented for approximately seven minutes. Speeds will be significantly reduced during this time.

Location and Schedule

  • On site at Denver International Airport (parking is provided)  
  • Shift: Hours are Monday through Friday (7am to 330 or 8am to 430pm or 9am-5:30pm)
  • Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If staffing challenges occur, weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees will be required to work extended hours and/or alternative shifts (includes nights, weekends, and holidays)
  • Participates in mandatory snow removal duties  
  • Shifts are not guaranteed and are subject to change

 In this position, you can expect to: 

  • Review and coordinate the maintenance and repair of agency equipment and/or facilities
  • Meet with City personnel, vendors, contractors, and/or utilities as needed to assist in coordinating maintenance, repair, and/or alteration projects
  • Process work orders for building and equipment maintenance, repair, and/or new construction
  • Review work upon completion for adherence to guidelines and standards
  • Order supplies, materials, and parts and monitor’s inventory
  • Implement safety and other work-related standards and develops procedures to ensure compliance
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and assign work for assigned employees
  • Participate as a team member that analyzes equipment needs, collects information, and recommends the purchase of new equipment
  • Inspect facilities and equipment for conformance to agency security and safety regulations

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:  Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
  • Experience:  Two (2) years of public contact experience involving the explanation of regulations, policies, or procedure
  • Licensures/Certification(s):  This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver’s License at the time of application Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
  • Equivalency:  Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
