In this position you can expect to work 4/10’s (Monday through Thursday, day shift), all on site at Denver International Airport, 8500 Pena Blvd. Denver, CO 80249.

Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.

Responsibilities of the Multiple Trades Supervisor – Life Safety include:

  • Manage employees involved in the maintenance, repair, and construction of DEN’s Life Safety systems including fire alarm, smoke control, electrical, and fire sprinklers and UPS’s

  • Coordinate and partner with Denver Fire Department to ensure compliance of local and national code requirements

  • Conducts hiring interviews and selects candidate(s) for job opening(s)

  • Develop and monitor work teams or units, determine the work functions' priorities, goals, and objectives, and assign staff to accomplish the division's goals and objectives efficiently and effectively

  • Establish preventive maintenance and repair programs for City-owned airport facilities and equipment; Implements safety standards and develops procedures to ensure compliance

  • Assist in the formulation of the budget and track expenditures; Estimates electrical expenditures on construction, remodeling, maintenance, and repair projects

  • Disseminate information to supervisors regarding work schedules, time frames, cost estimates, required personnel, and the feasibility of electrical maintenance projects

  • Direct the development of performance evaluation standards for functions managed within the guidelines set by top management. Formally evaluates the work of directly subordinate supervisors and staff

  • Develop and implement staff training and development plans to provide cross-training of employees, specific job-related training, and other approaches to provide staff flexibility and development opportunities; Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

About You

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:​

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills

  • Ability to work independently 

  • Ability to work in a team  

  • Ability/desire to learn other skills 

  • Working knowledge or familiarity with NFPA and/or Denver Fire Department Regulatory Requirements

  • Previous supervisory experience is a plus

  • Currently certified in one of the following (preferred, not required): NICET III or above, Fire Alarm and Sprinkler, Plumber, HVAC or Electrician 

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate

  • Experience: Four years of experience in journey-level skilled trades or in facility maintenance operations

  • Licensure/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. May require more than one certification. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment 

  • Education & Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements
