Denver International Airport Field Maintenance team is looking for a Painter. In this position you will handle assignments, paint and help with fixtures of buildings.

Location and Schedule

  • On site at Denver International Airport (parking is provided)  
  • Shift: Tuesday to Friday from 5:00 am to 3:30 pm
  • Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If staffing challenges occur, weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees will be required to work extended hours and/or alternative shifts (includes nights, weekends, and holidays)
  • Participates in mandatory snow removal duties  
  • Shifts are not guaranteed and are subject to change

In this role, you will perform maintenance, repair, and remodel painting on a variety of City facility surfaces, using various painting tools, equipment, and painting application techniques. 


 In this position, you can expect to: 

  • Paints, varnishes, stains, enamels, lacquers, and redecorates walls, floors, woodwork and fixtures of buildings using appropriate tools and techniques. 
  • Responds to service calls, assesses needs and provides problem resolution. 
  • Inspects painting jobs to estimate materials, equipment, labor, and costs. 
  • Tapes and finishes drywall, installs wall and floor coverings, removes old finishes, and prepares surfaces and selects premixed paint or mixes paints to achieve desired color. 
  • Maintains records and prepares daily activity reports. 
  • May be required to be on-call to address emergent needs. 
  • Participates in snow removal. 
  • Responds to after hours calls or emergency calls outside of normal scheduled or business hours. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 
  • Employees may be re-deployed to work in other capacities in their own agencies or in other City agencies to support core functions of the City during a City-wide emergency declared by the Mayor. 
  • Any one position may not include all of the duties listed. However, the allocation of positions will be determined by the amount of time spent performing the essential duties listed above.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate. 
  • Experience Requirement: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in the painting trade or three (3) years of maintenance painting experience. 
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements. License/Certifications: By position, requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
